The valedictorian of her high school senior class, Alyssa turned down Yale to attend New College of Florida. “I read about New College in the Book, Schools that Change Lives.” She also came to New College because she received a scholarship.

Witnessing Their Students’s Growth Professor Steve Shipman

Professor Shipman has been teaching courses, labs, and tutorials in physical chemistry at New College since 2008. In their lab, Professor Shipman and their students study how small molecules rotate and vibrate in the gas phase in very high resolution. This lets them acquire “molecular fingerprints” that can uniquely identify molecules in complicated mixtures.

Klingenstein Chair Leaves Her Mark at New College Professor Susan Marks

Professor Marks has been teaching at New College for 30 years. In 2003, she became the Klingenstein Chair. She has spearheaded the Judaic Studies focus in the Religion Department.

A transformational year of yes! Professor Jennifer Wells

“We are living in a year of yes,” exclaims New College of Florida’s Director of Writing, Dr. Jennifer Wells. Her excitement stems from a generous gift provided recently by Charter Class Alum Carol Holder ’64 in support of the Writing Resource Center (WRC).

Meet 4th year New College of Florida student, Telle Fugett, who is working as an intern at Girls, Inc. in Sarasota. “I honestly feel like my internship has been one of the most influential things I’ve participated in at New College,” she says.
