International Student Application Process

These instructions are for students planning to study on an F-1 student visa. Some will be required for students who have studied outside of the United States. There are two options:

Option 1: New College Application

  • No application fee
  • SAT or ACT scores (required and cannot be waived at this time)
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores: If English is not your native language, the minimum TOEFL score for admission is 560 (paper test) or 83 (internet-based test). The minimum IELTS score is 6.5. If English is your native language, the language of instruction for your education, and/or you have already taken the SAT or ACT, please contact us at (941)-487-5000 or admissions@ncf.edu for a possible waiver of TOEFL/IELTS test scores.
  • Official Transcripts: One from each school attended, from high school through college.
  • Credential Evaluation and Translation*: We require a NACES-member course-by-course credential evaluation with GPA for academic records from most schools that do not use the U.S. system, with the exception of International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. A certified translation is also required for transcripts not in English. This can be ordered with the credential evaluation.
  • Recommendation (Optional): Through the application, provide contact information for the person writing your recommendation. We will send the information directly to them.

Option 2: Common Application

  • No application fee
  • Add New College to your account
  • SAT or ACT scores (required and cannot be waived at this time)
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores: If English is not your native language, the minimum TOEFL score for admission is 560 (paper test) or 83 (internet-based test). The minimum IELTS score is 6.5. If English is your native language, the language of instruction for your education, and/or you have already taken the SAT or ACT, please contact us at (941)-487-5000 or admissions@ncf.edu for a possible waiver of TOEFL/IELTS test scores.

A certified translation is also required for transcripts not in English. This can be ordered with the credential evaluation.
  • Recommendation (optional): From your college counselor, principal, dean or teacher who has taught you in an academic subject. Send through Common Application.

*Credential evaluations must be course-by-course with grade and credit equivalents. Transcripts provided in a language other than English also require a professional, certified translation. If your records are already provided in English, or your school(s) use the U.S. or International Baccalaureate (IB) system, please contact us at (941)-487-5000 or admissions@ncf.edu to discuss a possible waiver.
