Dr Fennie teaches courses related to biology, epidemiology, and public health. He is co-director of the interdisciplinary Health Culture and Societies joint AOC, and serves on the pre-med advisory committee. Dr Fennie’s research centers on infectious disease epidemiology, namely HIV/AIDS. He has been involved in several intervention (RCT) studies as an epidemiologist, methodologist, and analyst, and has expertise particularly in assessing and modelling longitudinal and multilevel data.

His research interests focus on HIV medication adherence, HIV disclosure, internal and external stigma, and trust in health provider. He currently is involved in a study examining patient-centered HIV care, and a study to assess a Qi Gong intervention to improve quality of life among older people living with HIV. He conducts research in the United States (namely Florida), and in Hunan, China. He also is involved with the Yale China Association, and is part of its Health Advisory Committee.
