Bio
Nathaniel Curtis is a marine microbial ecologist and postdoctoral fellow in the Natural Sciences Division and the Pritzker Marine Biology Research Center. He earned his B.S. in Marine Science and Biochemistry from Jacksonville University before completing his M.S. and Ph.D. at North Carolina State University. His doctoral research explored how vitamin B1 shapes bacterial communities and influences microbial growth in ocean and coastal estuary environments. In his current work with Dr. Kent Hatch, he studies how environmental conditions influence the development, assembly, and evolution of microbiomes associated with a diverse range of marine invertebrates.
