Students write postcards home to reconnect with friends and family

A students writes a message on a postcard. The Sarasota beaches lure students from all 50 states to New College, but there’s no place like home. As the semester drew to a close, Second Court Resident Advisor Marcela Prado-Zapata hosted a postcard-writing event for students to reconnect with friends and family back home.
”I had about 15 people attend,” said Prado-Zapata. “People wrote to their friends and family all over.”
Though most of New College’s students hail from the state of Florida, students wrote to family as far away as Europe.
“I had some postcards sent to New Jersey, Michigan, Massachusetts, all over Florida, and even Germany,” said Prado-Zapata. “A total of about 25 postcards were sent out.”
Cliff Lundin, campus visit coordinator, donated postcards to the students on behalf of the Office of Admissions.

Founded in Sarasota in 1960, New College of Florida is the state's only legislatively designated Honors College of Florida. New College prepares intellectually curious students for lives of great achievement by providing a highly individualized education that integrates academic rigor with career-building experiences. New College offers 45 undergraduate majors in liberal arts and sciences, a master’s degree program in data science, and certificates in technology, finance, and business skills.
