bell hooks, the feminist thinker and writer, will give a series of community readings and discussions in February and March while she is a visiting distinguished scholar at New College of Florida. Her 1981 book, “Ain’t I a Woman: Black Women and Feminism,” was named one of the most influential books of the last 20 years by Publisher’s Daily.  hooks is the author of more than 30 books and dozens of articles and essays and is distinguished professor in residence in Appalachian Studies at Berea College.
