New College of Florida Student Michael Long Wins Prestigious Truman Scholarship

A Sarasota college student can add his name to a roster of political heavyweights and Truman Scholars including Janet Napolitano, Susan Rice and George Stephanopolous. New College of Florida student Michael Long has won a prestigious 2013 Truman Scholarship, given to shining students who have a future in public service. He collects $30,000 for graduate study, plus gets priority admission and extra financial aid at certain graduate schools, leadership training, career counseling and a 10-week internship in Washington D.C. Long is one of 62 scholarship winners in the nation, and the only student in Florida to win this year.
