Fifty years ago, Nan Freeman was a New College first-year student who died while volunteering with striking sugar cane workers at the Talisman Sugar Company in Central Florida. A moving memorial—beautiful twin outdoor murals celebrating Nan Freeman’s selfless activism—is being dedicated on Saturday, April 2, at 2 p.m. in the  New College Library (please note the venue has changed to indoors). You are invited. Let us ensure Nan’s sacrifice is not forgotten and that her memory remains a blessing.

Speakers include New College President Okker and United Farm Workers President Teresa Romero.  Two murals in the ACE Breezeway were designed and painted by alumna Danielle Dygert to inspire current and future students to work for justice.
