Bio
I grew up in Bavaria and attended a music-focused high school. While music remains important in my life, my curiosity about the human mind and big questions led me to study philosophy, psychology, and art history at Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. After a brief time working in journalism, I joined the Business Ethics Chair at the Technical University of Munich, where I also earned my PhD. My doctoral research combined philosophy and experimental economics to explore winner–loser dynamics in competitive situations. A short research stay at Michigan State University deepened my interest in U.S. academia, which I found both vibrant and inspiring.
Before joining New College, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Arizona’s Center for the Philosophy of Freedom and a visiting faculty fellow at Tulane University’s Murphy Institute, Center for Ethics. My research focuses on moral intuitions in policy discourse, folk economic beliefs about contested markets, and the ethical implications of disruptive technologies. At New College, I look forward to teaching, learning from students, and continuing to develop research that bridges philosophical reflection with real-world challenges.
