Building an intellectual community of independent thinkers

New College of Florida practices selective admission, seeking those students who are able and eager to take responsibility for their own education, and who will benefit from the College’s demanding academic program and flexible curriculum.

Satisfaction of minimum State University System admission requirements does not guarantee acceptance; preference for admission is given to applicants who demonstrate great academic promise.

The Office of Admissions selects students on the basis of a broad range of factors.

APPROXIMATE ORDER OF IMPORTANCE OF MAJOR APPLICATION FACTORS:

  1. Level of difficulty of course work
  2. Grades (including class rank if available)
  3. SAT or ACT scores
  4. Activities

Writing ability and recommendations may be considered.  The Admissions Committee may consider an applicant’s demonstrated interest in attending New College, and allocation of limited guaranteed scholarship resources as criteria for admission to New College.
