Privacy and the Release of Student Information (FERPA)
New College of Florida (NCF) complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 as amended. FERPA gives students the right to:

1) Review and inspect their education records;
2) Request the amendment of education records that the student believes are inaccurate or misleading;
3) Consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in their education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosures without consent; and
4) Complain to the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failure by New College of Florida to comply with the requirements of FERPA.

Student rights regarding postsecondary education records and application records are also protected by Florida Statute 1006.52 (which is subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act in accordance with s. 119.15 and shall stand repealed on October 2, 2014, unless reviewed and saved from repeal through reenactment by the Legislature. Student rights regarding K-12 education records are also protected by Florida Statute 1002.22, including the right to bring action in Florida Circuit Court for violations of this statute.

Transfer of Credit Policy
Transfer credit is assigned in time toward the degree. If you are a prospective student sending us official transcripts for your application file, you are welcome to ask us for a rough estimate of transfer credit prior to a decision. The formal assignment of transfer credit is done for enrolling students, on the basis of the final college transcript.

Physical Addresses
Students who register to vote in this area must use the physical addresses of their residence halls when they register. They may use the campus address with their box numbers as their mailing addresses. If they change to new halls, they need to notify the office of the Supervisors of Elections to update their residential addresses.
