Mentorship

Mentorship is a unique and essential part of the New College academic experience. Mentorship connects students, alumni, and community members with one another to enhance every student’s personal and professional development.

How can I get involved?

Student

The Mighty Banyan Mentorship Program was designed with second-year and transfer students in mind, but students of all years will benefit from the program. The program is an academic year-long commitment in which students will:

  • Be matched with a mentor who aligns with their academic and professional areas of interest, who will be there to offer insight into their chosen field and support as the student designs a plan for their future.
  • Take part in a Fall semester, for-credit course designed to help them plan the future they want and take steps towards it.
  • Register for a spring internship and participate in another for-credit course designed to help them get the most out of their work experience.

Students who participated in the program have said that it helped them to gain confidence and to clarify their future and how they can take steps to achieve their dreams. Many described being surprised by something they learned in the course or a way it benefited them.
