Student Spotlight: Sydney Haas

Sydney is a second-year student at New College in the Marine Biology area of concentration. She came to New College from Rochester, New York.

After graduating , Sydney plans to earn a graduate degree and travel to conduct research with National Geographic or The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.  

Her favorite aspect of the Marine Biology program a New College is how it provides students access to so many resources in the community. These local resources and the connections she has made at New College have enabled her to earn internships with local aquariums and present her research at conferences across the country. She has presented research at conferences like the American Physiology Summit and the National Conference on Undergraduate Research.

Sydney is the co-chair of the Council of Green Affairs. Last November, she also served as the student speaker at the New College Foundation Clambake.
