The Living Legacies of the Exiles of Florida

Join us for The Living Legacies of The Exiles of Florida, a panel reflecting on the enduring themes of freedom and democracy. On March 6th at 11 am, historians Canter Brown Jr. and William Hustwit, and archaeologist Uzi Baram will discuss the impact of Joshua Reed Giddings’ 1858 book, The Exiles of Florida. An unflinching account of the Seminole Wars, Giddings’ work remains a powerful catalyst for discussion today. Supported by the Florida Board of Governors America 250 grant, this event is free and open to the public, available both in person at New College of Florida and via YouTube (link will be sent upon registration).
