Campus Police Community Services

Don’t walk alone at night! Campus Police offers vehicle escorts to and from all points on campus. Just pick up a blue emergency phone or call the Campus Police at (941) 487-4210 and an officer will respond to you as soon as possible.

Campus Police has a prescription drug disposal container available for the community 24/7/365.  Please, no sharps or liquids.  We also provide pouches of Deterra free of charge which can be used at home to neutralize drugs by using water.  The next DEA sponsored Prescription Drug Take-Back date is to be determined.  Additional DEA Drug Take Back information.

Campus Police officers carry NARCAN® Nasal Spray, the first nasal formulation of naloxone to be FDA approved for the treatment of known or suspected opioid overdose. Designed for use in the community, NARCAN® Nasal Spray is needle-free and ready to use.

Due to a recent spike in the number of crimes attributed to transactions made on services such as Craig’s List, the Campus Police Department is offering the lobby of the police building for those wishing to make online transactions.  The Campus Police Department is located at 501 College Drive, Sarasota, Florida 34243.

Some of those involved in these types of transactions are becoming the victim of armed robbery or assault.  The lobby and exterior of the police building are videotaped all of the time.  If someone does not agree to go to a police station to complete a transaction, we recommend that you do not go through with the transaction or exchange, as it should definitely be a warning sign.

Campus Police cannot assist or warranty the actual transaction or exchange.  This action is to allow for a safe space to complete the transaction.  If you have any questions, please contact Campus Police at 941-487-4210.

SAFETY TIPS: ONLINE EXCHANGES

▪ Meet at a public place, including police stations. While some police departments, including Campus Police, the Sarasota Police Department, and the Manatee Sheriff’s Office advertise that they are safe exchange zones, most departments are open to these types of transactions.  Check with your local police department for more information.

▪ Always tell a friend or family member where you are going (an address) and who you are meeting.

▪ Take your charged cell phone with you, so you can call for help if needed.

▪ If possible, don’t go alone.

▪ If someone is coming to your house, have someone there with you.

Campus Police is equipped with a battery charger. If you find yourself on campus and in need of a jump start, pick up the nearest Emergency Blue Phone or call 941-487-4210 and give the dispatcher your name, vehicle description, and location. As soon as a police officer is free, they’ll be happy to assist you. You will be asked to sign a waiver of liability before any action is taken. Without this waiver, a jump start of your vehicle can not be attempted by Campus Police.

Campus Police is equipped with a vehicle unlocking kit. If you find yourself on campus and in need of this service, pick up the nearest Emergency Blue Phone or call 941-487-4210 and give the dispatcher your name, vehicle description, and location. As soon as a police officer is free, they’ll be happy to assist you. You will be asked to sign a waiver of liability before any action is taken. Without this waiver, unlocking of your vehicle can not be attempted by Campus Police.

Note: Power locks and windows make it extremely difficult to unlock a vehicle with the kit. There is a lot of wiring inside the door panel, and thus a greater risk that expensive damage will be done during the unlocking process. Campus Police strongly suggests finding an alternative solution, such as calling roadside assistance or retrieving a spare key, if at all possible.

Campus Police offers notary services.  This service is performed free of charge by appointment only.  We have notaries available at various times to serve the community.

Fingerprinting services are offered to NCF and USF students, staff, faculty, and alumni. You must bring a driver’s license, passport, or current government issued photo ID, and your own fingerprint card.  This service is performed free of charge by appointment only.

Campus Police houses a campus wide lost and found.  As soon as you realize you are missing something, give us a call or stop by.  For health reasons, clothing is disposed of immediately.

Campus Police offer laptop computer registration. By registering your laptop and affixing a New College of Florida decal, the owner of the laptop is authorizing any officer of the NCFPD to stop anyone possessing the laptop to confirm ownership or permission to possess should the officer suspect that the person with the laptop is not the owner.

This is a completely voluntary program and participation is not required in order to register your laptop with NCFPD. Download the registration form.

NCFPD offers the Bicycle Anti-Theft program (B.A.T.). By registering your bicycle and affixing a New College of Florida B.A.T. decal to the bike, the owner of the bike is authorizing any officer of the NCFPD to stop anyone operating the bike to confirm ownership or permission to possess should the officer suspect that the operator is not the owner.

This is a completely voluntary program and participation is not required in order to register your bike with NCFPD. Download the registration form.

The New College Student Alliance has partnered with Campus Police to offer free loaner bike locks to currently enrolled New College Students.  NCSA provides the funding and Campus Police will handle the logistics of distributing the locks from the Campus Police Office.

Eligible Students must have a valid New College ID Card and be currently enrolled. The locks are available 24/7. There are a limited number of locks available.  The locks must be returned to Campus Police by the end of the semester.

Keys to various campus facilities are available for sign-out at Campus Police. Some of these keys are available to any student, faculty, or staff member with a valid New College ID card. Others are restricted to a sign-out list, determined by the administrator of that particular key.

All those signing out a key must leave a valid New College student, staff, or faculty ID card, which will be returned to the owner upon return of the key. No driver’s licenses will by accepted — No Exceptions! Upon signing for the key, you are taking full responsibility for the corresponding facility. No key may be checked out overnight or taken off campus.

Protect your valuables: engraving them with your driver’s license number! How can this help? Should something of value to you (bicycle, television, stereo equipment, computer, etc.) ever be stolen, there is a much higher likelihood you will get your belongings back if they are recovered. An engraving device is available at Campus Police free of charge. You can do it yourself or have a police officer assist you.  We are not responsible for damaged items due to engraving and may choose not to do the engraving ourselves.
