Campus Recreation
There are plenty of ways to stay active and have fun with your fellow Banyan!
At New College we take a holistic approach to wellness which includes physical fitness, as well as building healthy social relationships through activities and sports. We strive to create an environment for students to develop leadership, teamwork, confidence and problem-solving skills through our many recreational programs. The department of Campus Recreation includes the Recreation Center, outdoor recreational courts and fields, the Waterfront Program, and certain recreational, fitness, and sports clubs. These programs are designed for everyone no matter skill level. Our outdoor facilities include a beautiful 25-meter swimming pool, hot tub, an indoor wood-floored racquetball court, two spacious wood-floored dance and exercise rooms, a lighted basketball court, two lighted tennis courts, a multipurpose playing field and softball diamond, and a fitness path. Sports equipment can be checked out at the Recreation Center office. Waterfront Program
The New College of Florida Waterfront Program is the gateway to expanding our coastal campus out into Sarasota Bay. Students can swim at the beach, learn to sail, go fishing or take a kayak out on the bay! The boathouse on Caples Campus has wifi and is a great place to hang out on the lawn and study.
Sailing
Ready to catch the wind and try something new? Whether you’re brand new or already know your way around a sailboat, everyone’s welcome. The sailing club or sailing team are open to all students looking to polish their skipper skills. Learn more about student clubs and organizations here.

Paddle Sports
Kayaks, canoes and stand up paddle boards are a favorite platform to experience the bay. These low skill high reward activities are a great way to spend time with friends outside of the classroom. Additionally, kayak field trips away from campus give even more opportunities to experience all the nature Florida has to offer.

Campus Recreation is under the Division of Student Affairs.
