Dr. Derik Perry is a Senior Principal Information Engineer, head of MITRE’s Enterprise Transition Planning and Execution Department (L234), and is a leader in MITRE’s Enterprise Strategy & Transformation Innovation Center. Derik has over thirty years of experience providing Federal Government, Telecommunications and Financial Service clients with strategic planning, complex program management, and performance management. He has advised many Federal Departments (Homeland Security, Justice, Veterans Administration, State & Defense) as well as numerous agencies (CMS, IRS, and the US Courts). Most recently he has served as a Principal Information Engineer in MITRE’s Cloud, Network and Digital Service Engineering Department.

Prior to MITRE, Derik led the consulting practice of training and content development firm Vertex Solutions and held program and product management positions with KPMG Consulting, AT&T, and Sprint International. He has his doctoral degree in information systems and communications, and successfully defended his dissertation entitled Minding the Mind – A Study of Governance Practices for Artificial Intelligence in High Stakes Applications.” His research explores AI governance and sensemaking practices from a multi-frame perspective. He also has an MBA in international finance, and BBA in marketing from the School of Business at The George Washington University. Outside of work, Derik actively devotes his time raising scholarship funds and mentoring youth with the Montgomery County Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and The George Washington University Alumni Association. He’s has recently concluded six years of service as an executive board member and Trustee of the Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in Bethesda, MD.
