Winn is the Research, Instruction, and Data Services Librarian at Cook Library.  Originally from a small town in northwest Illinois, he holds a BA in Government and Citation in German from Harvard University, an MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago, and an MSLIS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Prior to becoming a librarian, he taught political science at a community college in Illinois and in the University of Wisconsin Colleges System.  Winn‘s main hobby is his collection of over 500 miniature flags and the annual aesthetics competition he holds among the flags in his collection.  He is eager to work with faculty, students, and staff to help with their data-related and general research and teaching needs.  He is especially passionate about educating people to become more aware of the ways data and data collection are shaping their lives.  You can reach Winn at 941-487-4568, or by email
