Tampa Attorney appointed to New College of Florida Board of Trustees
Florida Board of Governors approves appointment of Ronald Christaldi
Sarasota, FL – Tampa Attorney Ronald Christaldi officially began his 5-year term as a member of the New College of Florida Board of Trustees today. The Florida State University System Board of Governors appointed Christaldi to the position last fall.
Christaldi, who graduated from New College in 1993, is a partner in the law firm Shumaker, Loop and Kendrick, LLP and president/CEO of Shumaker Advisors Florida LLC.
“I am humbled to have the opportunity to serve my alma mater and contribute to its continued success as a top honors college for the liberal arts. My experience at New College helped shape who I am today, and I’m grateful to be in a position to give back to the next generation of graduates,” Ronald Christaldi said.
In addition to Christaldi, the Board appointed Mary Ruiz, a 1978 graduate from New College. Ruiz is the former CEO of Centerstone of Florida and now heads her own consulting firm Ruiz Strategic Advisors. She replaces Audrey Coleman, who stepped down from her role due to health issues, and will serve on the Board through January 6, 2021. Ruiz previously served as a trustee from 2011 to 2016.
“We look forward to welcoming two distinguished alumni to our Board of Trustees,” New College President Donal O’Shea says. “Both bring a wealth of management experience to our Board and deep personal connections to the college.”
Felice Schulaner, Chair of the New College Board of Trustees, adds: “I am thrilled to have Ms. Ruiz and Mr. Christaldi on our Board. They both have had extraordinarily successful careers and attribute their success, in part, to their New College experience. I know they will contribute greatly to our efforts.”
New College of Florida, the only legislatively designated Honors College of Florida, prepares intellectually curious students for lives of great achievement. Students pursue academically rigorous coursework tailored to their personal interests and career aspirations in classes that average an 8:1 student-to-faculty ratio. The 110-acre campus in Sarasota is home to more than 725 students and 85 faculty engaged in interdisciplinary research and collaborative learning.
