Young composers get exposure in Sarasota Orchestra’s ‘EarShot’ concert

Orchestra performs a concert of emerging work and a chamber program by mentor composers

Studying composition at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, Kitty Xiao doesn’t have much opportunity to hear her own orchestral music performed the way she intended. Next weekend, she’ll have the rare chance when the Sarasota Orchestra performs her piece “Ink and Wash” as part of the “EarShot” concert program, which features the work of four young composers.
…..In Sarasota, Beaser’s own work will be be heard in a chamber concert to be presented at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, featuring pieces by composers Laura Karpman, Chinary Ung and Marc Dancigers, an assistant professor of digital media and music at New College of Florida.
