New College’s Kessie Elected to FPCA Post
Michael Kessie, chief of the Campus Police Department, was elected director of the Florida Police Chiefs Association District 1, which includes Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, Hardee and Highlands counties.
Kessie was sworn in as the district director by Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle in a July 12 ceremony.
As district director, Kessie’s role is to bring members’ concerns to the Association leadership and to communicate its initiatives to members.
“I am honored to be elected by my peers and look forward to representing them as a liaison to the Florida Police Chiefs’ executive board,” Kessie said.
The Florida Police Chiefs Association is composed of more than 1,000 law enforcement officials who lead municipal police departments, airport police, college, tribal and university police, private business and security firms, as well as federal, state and county law enforcement agencies.
