New College Seeking Funding for Arts Programs
Many prospective New College of Florida students are keenly interested in the arts, and some end up going to other universities when they realize the limits of the small Sarasota school’s arts curriculum.
So next year Florida’s liberal arts honors college will push for $454,000 in additional recurring state funds to expand arts education in a partnership with Florida State University. The budget request would add four new positions to help enhance a variety of programs at New College and the FSU-run Ringling Museum of Art and FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training.
