New College of Florida should soon begin a major expansion that will significantly transform the university, after state leaders awarded the small Sarasota school millions in new recurring funding to hire additional professors and grow the student body substantially.
The college is one of the biggest beneficiaries in Sarasota or Manatee counties of a state budget that was finalized Friday and will be formally approved Monday.
