New College Ranked #3 in the Nation among All Public Colleges and Universities by Forbes.com
Forbes.com rated New College #3 in the nation among all Public Colleges and Universities and #29 overall among all Public and Private Colleges and Universities in its survey “America’s Best Colleges”. New College ranked #1 among all Public and Private Colleges and Universities within the State of Florida.
Designed as a competitor to the US News and World Report survey, Forbes.com inaugurates its first ranking of America’s Best Colleges, an annual list. The report ranks 569 undergraduate institutions based on the quality of the education they provide and how much their students achieve.
Forbes.com bases its rankings on the 2008 Who’s Who in America (25%), student evaluations of professors from ratemyprofessors.com (25%), four-year graduation rates (16 2/3%), enrollment-adjusted numbers of students and faculty receiving nationally competitive awards (16 2/3%) and average four year accumulated student debt of those borrowing money (16 2/3%).
Other Florida schools such as University of Florida placed at #167, Florida Southern College at #181, Florida State University at # 274 and University of South Florida at # 336. New College was the only college or university in the state to be placed in the top 100.
