New College of Florida President Mike Michalson Reappointed to Collins Institute Board
Mike Michalson, president of New College of Florida, has been reappointed to the LeRoy Collins Institute Board. Michalson’s term begins in January and runs through the end of 2012. He was first appointed to the board in 2004 to serve a 4 year term.
The Leroy Collins Institute, named after former Florida governor Leroy Collins, was established in 1988 as a public policy think tank designed to bring together top leaders in state business, government, and higher education to find solutions to controversial state issues.
Since its inception, the Institute has addressed and supported key issues such as the Corporate Tax Credit Scholarship Program and the Florida Civic Education program. In addition to its research efforts, the Institute has played an instrumental role in state government. Located at Florida State University in Tallahassee, the Institute works in affiliation and collaboration with the State University System of Florida.
Other current and past Collins Institute board members include former governor Buddy MacKay, former county and circuit judge Dr. Allison DeFoor, former president of Florida State University Sandy D’Alemberte, Miami-Dade State Attorney Ms. Fernandez Rundle and Frank Brogan, president of Florida Atlantic University.
