New College of Florida Math Clinic Returns to Selby Library Now through May 9
New College of Florida math students are calculating on the successful return of a popular program for the local community. Every Sunday from February 28 through May 9, the students are offering a free math clinic to people of all ages in Sarasota and Manatee counties. The walk-in clinic operates out of the Selby Public Library (1331 First Street, 941-861-1120) in downtown Sarasota between 2:00 and 4:00 pm.
Originally created by New College math professor Eirini Poimenidou in the late 1990s, the New College Math Clinic is open to anyone with math-related questions, seeking to overcome a math phobia, looking to return to school but in need of a math refresher, or interested in discussing mathematical topics with fellow enthusiasts. No registration or prior arrangement is necessary. Pencils, protractors, assorted worksheets and a limited supply of calculators are available each week. Please note that tutors cannot assist with tax preparation or offer any financial or accounting services’ advice.
