Allegra Buyer is a past biologist for the Florida Park Service. After graduating from New College of Florida with a degree in biology, she started her career working with exotics at Ravine Gardens State Park. From there she worked seasonal jobs in Alaska and Texas, and then came back to Florida as a biologist in Apopka. She assisted with exotic removal at 33 parks and trails, and worked on restoration, prescribed fire and listed species management. She completed her MS in Ecological Restoration through UF.
Amanda Lindsay is a senior biologist for the Landscape and Natural Resources Department at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Her duties include managing the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) stormwater compliance program and assisting with the urban tree canopy on the urban parts of campus, as well as land management activities in the 800 acres of natural lands that also belong to the university. Amanda will touch on the services of Central Florida Cooperative Invasive Species Management Areas (CISMA) that encompass Orange and Seminole Counties.
Amanda earned her B.S. in 2011 from the University of Central Florida where she studied Environmental Science. She is an ISA certified Arborist and a Qualified Stormwater Inspector through FDEP. Prior to graduating, she worked for NextEra Energy Resources in Maine conducting fish passage surveys and assisting with studies on the effects of hydroelectric dams on the surrounding wildlife populations. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring nature, traveling, camping, and scuba diving with her family.
