Michalson Named President of Florida Association of Colleges and Universities
Mike Michalson, president of New College of Florida, was elected as president of the Florida Association of Colleges and Universities at their annual meeting in Orlando on Wednesday. Michalson’s term is for the 2008-09 academic year. He previously served as the organization’s vice president.
Established in 1933, the Florida Association of Colleges and Universities represents the common interests of all of the state’s public and private universities as well as community colleges. Its membership includes the presidents of each of the state’s higher education institutions.
“It’s an honor not only for me personally, but for New College as an institution, that I’ve been chosen to lead this Association at such a challenging moment,” said Michalson. “FACU is in a position to influence in significant ways the wider conversation about a long-range plan for higher education in our state, and I look forward to mobilizing our Association’s resources in pursuit of this goal.”
