Memorial Service for Emeritus Professor John B. Morrill Scheduled for 9/19
(September 9, 2010) — A memorial service for Emeritus Professor of Biology John B. Morrill will be held on the New College of Florida campus on Sunday, September 19, at 2 p.m. All members of the New College community, as well friends of Professor Morrill from outside the College, are invited to attend. The service will take place in the College Hall Music Room starting at 2:00 p.m.
Noted for his keen intellect and his unwavering devotion to students, Professor Morrill’s impact on scientific study and research at New College spanned more than 40 years and influenced an entire generation of graduates who went to earn national distinction in biology, medicine and environmental studies. He passed away on August 9 following a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 80 years old.
Morrill is survived by his longtime companion, Nancy Ferraro; his daughters, Sandy of Berkeley, California, and Jessica of Woodland Hills, California; and two grandchildren.
