Israeli Deputy Consul General to Speak on Peace Process, April 14
On Wednesday, April 14, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm in the Soo Bong Chae Auditorium, Paul Hirschson, deputy consul general of the State of Israel’s Consulate in Florida, will discuss the ongoing peace process in Israel and American involvement in the negotiations. After the lecture, there will be a question and answer session. The event is sponsored by the New College Hillel.
Hirschson visited New College last November to do a screening of the powerful and moving Israeli film, “Waltz with Bashir.” It was a highly successful event and we hope that this next event continues the evolving and growing relationship of New College to the Israeli Consulate.
Born in London, Paul Hirschson grew up in South Africa. He holds Bachelors (accounting & law) and Masters (business) degrees. After immigrating to Israel, Hirschson served in the Israeli Defense Force, then worked in the civil service, relocating to England for three years. On his return to Israel, he entered Israel’s hi-tech sector, developing business relations in the Middle East. In 2004, Hirschson left the private sector and joined the Foreign Office. He worked for the Director General’s Office responsible for Israel’s relations with countries in the Persian Gulf until relocating to Florida in 2008.
The Soo Bong Chae Auditorium is located in the Heiser Natural Sciences Complex at 500 College Drive. The event is free and open to the public. Food and drinks will be provided. Please RSVP either by e-mailing Michael Waas at [email protected] or through the New College Hillel’s Facebook event’s page.
