Economics professor to keynote UN Women luncheon
New College Assistant Professor of Economics Tracy Collins will be the keynote speaker at the fall lunch of the Gulf Coast Chapter of the United States National Committee for UN Women Saturday, Oct. 27, at Michael’s on East in Sarasota.
UN Women is the United Nations’ entity responsible for educating about gender issues worldwide, advocating on behalf of gender equity and to raise funds to support the programs of UN Women. Dr. Collins will address the importance of financial strength and economic opportunity for women.
The luncheon will honor Manatee County resident Dr. Mona Jain, a physician and medical consultant who has served as both a teacher and administrator for American, British and Indian educational systems since 1961. She served on the Florida Governor’s Commission on Education, the executive board of the Florida Commission on the Status of Women and was president of the American Association of University Women. She is a Fulbright scholar and winner of USF’s Distinguished Alumna Award and USFSM’s Distinguished Professional Achievement Award.
