New College Library Association Taps Pamela Gore Meade for Board of Directors

The New College Library Association (NCLA) has announced the recent selection of Pamela Gore Meade for service on its Board of Directors.  A native Floridian and eleven-year resident of Englewood, Ms. Gore Meade received her B.A. from Florida State University in 1986 and her M.A. from the University of Florida in 1991.  She has several years’ experience in program development and management with both academic institutions and non-governmental organizations, including UF’s Tropical Conservation and Development Program, the Tropical Science Center in Costa Rica, the Forest Management Trust in Gainesville and the State College of Florida Foundation, Venice.

Gore Meade is actively involved in several community organizations and charitable events in both Englewood and Sarasota.  She has served on event committees for the Hermitage Artist Retreat, NCLA’s Mistletoe Ball and Pique-nique sur la Baie, the Ringling Museum’s UnGala Gala, the State College of Florida’s 50th Anniversary Gala and Evening Under the Stars  and the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon for the Women’s Group of Englewood Community Hospital.  Gore Meade has also served as both member and officer for the ECH Women’s Group, the PEO International Sisterhood- Chapter HH, and the Bayshore Area Homeowner’s Association, and has volunteered her service on Englewood Elementary’s  School Advisory and Boundary Committees.

Gore Meade is married to Robert Meade, CEO and President of Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, and is the full-time mother of two school-aged children, Antonio and Hannah.

The New College Library Association was founded in 1964 to gather 16,000 volumes to open the Jane Bancroft Cook Library at New College of Florida.  Its mission since has been to provide direct financial support to ensure that the library has the intellectual resources to serve the Honors College of the State of Florida.  Over the years, the Library Association has provided more than $3 million in support for the purchase of books and other education materials.
