Investment Advisor and Economist David R. Kotok To Speak at New College

David R. Kotok, an economist and financial analyst who has worked for better global living standards and a reduction of international conflicts, will discuss global finance with New College of Florida students on Thursday, Sept. 19.
He will speak at 2 p.m. in ACE 115 on the New College campus. A question-and-answer session will follow his presentation.
Kotok is the co-founder, chairman and chief investment officer of Cumberland Advisors, an investment advisory firm based in Sarasota. Kotok founded the firm in 1973; it manages about $2.2 billion in client assets.
He is a frequent contributor to many media outlets, with commentary appearing in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, and guest appearances on Bloomberg, CNBC and Fox television and NPR and Bloomberg radio. He also is the author of two books.
Kotok also is a director of the Global Interdependence Center (interdependence.org), a non-profit organization with a mission of expanding global dialogue and free trade in order to foster international cooperation, reduce conflicts and improve worldwide living standards. It sponsors country- and region-specific conferences and briefings for educational and business networking opportunities.
Kotok has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and master’s degrees in organizational dynamics and philosophy from University of Pennsylvania.
He is a member of the National Business Economics Issues Council, the National Association for Business Economics, the Philadelphia Council for Business Economics and serves on the Research Advisory Board of BCA Research.
