The soul of a white nationalist

As the sun set on May 24 2013, Derek Black walked across the stage at New College’s graduation, and I handed him his diploma. Soon thereafter, he renounced his white supremacist views, and his position as heir apparent to the leadership of the white nationalist movement.
Though I had only been at New College for a year, I was quite certain what led to Black’s conversion. Black was smart, and a New College education is transformative. No doubt the close interaction Black had with faculty members and the rigorous courses that he took easily trumped the crackpot ideas into which he’d been indoctrinated.
How uninformed I was.
