Lyndon B. Johnson was president when Sarasota County Commission hopeful Mike Cosentino, 54, was born. A ticket to the movie theater in 1964 — his birth year — was $1.25. The Beatles took the world by storm and the Vietnam War would rage on for another 11 years.

Cosentino’s District 4 challenger, Wesley Beggs (NCF Alum) was born the same year Bill Clinton was elected president and pop star Michael Jackson topped the music charts. Hurricane Andrew would ravage Miami-Dade County in 1992 — her birth year — killing 15 in the county and leaving up to 250,000 homeless in its destructive path.
