Rowing Funding Prospects Dim

State lawmakers are budgeting much less than requested this year to help complete the new rowing facility under construction in Sarasota County, putting more pressure on private fundraising efforts to collect the money needed to host the 2017 World Rowing Championships. … The two facilities … are among just a handful of undecided budget issues. Lawmakers have agreed on most budget line items, including $2 million for a joint education program between Mote Marine Laboratory and the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, and $500,000 for a “Data Science & Analytics Initiative” at New College.
