New College of Florida and the New College Foundation announce the 2018-2019 season of the popular “New Topics” lecture and discussion series. This dynamic community series features national speakers on vital issues of our time.
Scheduled from October through April, the seven-program series features two speakers from Disney, a senior fellow at the World Policy Institute, an expert in U.S.-Russia relations, a former U.S. ambassador, a professor of Jewish law and ethics, and the former mayor of Detroit.
Topics range from ocean acidification and animal science in zoos to the foundations of charity in classical Jewish texts, the global trends contributing to the dramatic change and mounting chaos around the world, U.S.-Russian relations, and creating positive change through leadership and perseverance.
Media sponsors for this year’s series are the Herald-Tribune Media Group and WEDU.
All programs are complimentary and are held at 5:30 p.m. in the College’s Mildred Sainer Auditorium, 5313 Bay Shore Road. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made at ncf.edu/new-topics, or by calling the New College events hotline at 941-487-4888.
