New Music New College, the concert series featuring the most innovative and talented performers in contemporary music, has been awarded a $19,032 grant from the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County.

The competitive grants are judged and scored by the Alliance and recommended to the Sarasota County Commission, which approved them on June 3. The grants are funded by a portion of the county’s tourist development tax.

The grant will support visiting artists for New Music New College’s 2015-16 season, the 17th year of the series. The lineup for the new series will be announced soon. Last year, New Music New College brought acclainmed artists including pianist Blair McMillen, composer and vocalist Pamela Z and vocal ensemble Ekmeles to the Sarasota and Brandeton communities.
