He will be part of a panel that includes Florida Board of Governors Chair Sheila McDevitt, State Rep. Joe Pickens and Dr. Charles Figley from Florida State University.

The combination of budget cuts affecting higher education within the state of Florida and ambitious recruitment of faculty members from our State University System (SUS) by universities from outside the state have left many education leaders fearing that Florida could be facing a “brain drain” in the upcoming years, as top researchers and teachers flee the state in pursuit of more lucrative offers from elsewhere. The “Florida Matters” panel will discuss the likelihood of this scenario and steps that the State Legislature and SUS can take to address the education leaders’ concerns.
