New College Names Ann Comer-Woods As Marketing and Communications Director

New College of Florida has named Ann ComerWoods as the director of the College’s Office of Marketing and Communications.
ComerWoods was chosen from a pool of nearly 100 applicants after a nationwide search. She comes to New College from Boston University’s School of Law, where she served as assistant dean and has directed communications and marketing since 2012.
“Ann brings us a wealth of experience from working in very different educational institutions,” said New College President Don O’Shea.
Most recently, he noted, ComerWoods helped conceive and implement a highly successful marketing strategy at the Boston University law school, helping it rise from 29th place to 20th place in national rankings, and increasing applications by 14 percent.
“At a time when New College of Florida is poised to grow significantly, we are looking forward to having Ann deploy her talents not just on NCF’s behalf, but on working with our neighboring institutions in the Cross College Alliance to help establish this region as a great college town,” O’Shea said.
“I am excited to join New College as it embarks on its ambitious growth plan,” ComerWoods said. “I look forward to helping this distinctive institution achieve its long-term goals by promoting the school’s unique strengths.”
Before her tenure at Boston University, ComerWoods served as executive director of communications at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management, and as director of interactive and marketing programs at Northeastern University.
Her work has received national and regional gold, silver and bronze medals from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in mass communications from Boston University.  Among her personal achievements are twice running and completing the Boston Marathon.
ComerWoods begins work at New College on February 12.
