New College Library Dean to Retire

(July 16, 2008) – After nearly two decades of service to New College of Florida, Joan Pelland has announced her plans to retire as Dean of the Jane Bancroft Cook Library on June 30, 2009.  All library patrons – from USF Sarasota-Manatee, the general public and New College – have benefited enormously from Pelland’s steadfast commitment to providing top quality service to everyone who uses Cook Library.
Pelland will concentrate her energies during her final year at New College on developing a new library management agreement that will take advantage of fresh developments in information technology. Effective August 15 until her retirement next summer, Pelland will be appointed Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs with special responsibilities for developing the new agreement.
