To increase visibility and generate widespread support for New College, the Board of Trustees’ Mission Committee launched an outreach webpage on Friday called newcollegefriends.org.
The site is designed to help readers share information about the College on social media channels, and to thank Florida lawmakers for their continued belief in New College’s mission.
“We know what New College has to offer—the career-building learning experience based on results not grades, the freedom to chart your own path, the rigorous preparation for lives of great achievement, and consistently landing in top rankings nationally,” the Committee members said. “But it’s our job to let everyone know and grow our network of supporters.”
The Mission Committee, led by New College Board of Trustees Chair Mary Ruiz, has been working closely with the Office of Communications & Marketing and Converge Consulting in Tallahassee for months. The collective goal is to develop online campaigns aimed at telling multiple audiences—specifically state leaders—about the uniqueness of New College as the state’s only legislatively designated (and independent) honors college.
The Committee’s “More than Just a Number” splash page and companion Mini Digital Media Toolkit are intended to engage current New College alumni, students, parents and faculty “in a new way on issues that impact the school, and expand that base of support to those outside of the immediate New College informed audiences,” the Committee stated.
On the newcollegefriends.org homepage are New College News stories, national rankings, growth controls cost information, and a direct link to statewide leaders with a corresponding contact form. The latter states:
Dear Legislators,
I’m writing to say THANK YOU for your support of New College’s unique mission. Your commitment to the students helps ensure that Florida’s honors college continues to provide a valuable education that prepares young adults for careers of great achievement. We can’t thank you enough!
All members of the campus community are invited to share their New College pride with the world.
