Márquez is a Ph.D. candidate at Curtin University in Western Australia who researches how human behaviors impact the success of shark conservation methods. She is also a multilingual science communicator and founder of The Fins United Initiative, a nonprofit conservation and education organization devoted to sharks, skates and rays.
