The Fiske Guide to Colleges—the most widely respected college guide in the country—has designated New College as one of the 20 “Best Buy” Colleges and Universities of 2021.
New College was chosen for its “outstanding educational value, as determined by academic quality in relation to the net cost of attendance.”
“Specifically for New College of Florida, Fiske notes that virtually every student admitted to this ‘public ivy’ is guaranteed an automatic scholarship, and out-of-staters are awarded Presidential Scholarships worth $60,000 over four years,” said Liz Kelsch, the director of marketing at Sourcebooks, which is the publisher of the Fiske Guide.
For 37 years, Fiske has chosen a select group of schools for its annual list, focusing its selection on quality academic offerings and affordable cost. The only other public Florida school on the latest list is the University of Florida.
“The Fiske Guide is the best way to get to know the unique personalities of schools without visiting campus,” Kelsch said. “Featuring Fiske’s trademark descriptions, exclusive ratings, up-to-date tips from current students, and tools for broadening and narrowing your list, the Fiske Guide is the No. 1 source for discovering more than 320 of the best colleges and universities—and finding the right one for you.”
Founder Edward B. Fiske was an education editor of The New York Times for 17 years, during which time he realized that college-bound students and their families needed better information on which to base their educational choices. He wrote the Fiske Guide to help them and updated it annually with the editorial team.
