Campus Announcement

Members of the New College Community:
This message is to inform you of the reason for the Sarasota Police and emergency medical services vehicles outside Z Dorm early this morning.
At about 3:30 a.m., a New College student called the Campus Police Department to report finding his registered guest in his room to be unresponsive. Campus Police called Sarasota County Emergency Medical Services and the Sarasota Police Department, who responded and pronounced the guest dead. The name of the deceased has not been announced, pending notification of the next-of-kin.
Sarasota Police are investigating, along with Campus Police, and we will provide more information when it becomes available at www.ncf.edu/news.
Counseling and Wellness Center staff are aware of the events and encourage students to contact the Center if they need assistance.
We are deeply saddened by this occurrence and will provide as much information as possible when it becomes available.  Our thoughts are with the family and friends at this difficult time.
