( March 15, 2011) — New College of Florida student Ryan Tisdale is one of 75 university students selected by the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) to participate in the South Korea Scholarship Program, March 18-26, 2011. Tisdale is studying biology and ecology at New College and is a 2006 graduate of Sarasota Military Academy.

During spring break, Tisdale will participate in academic lectures, tours and cultural excursions through the program’s host institution Yonsei University in Seoul. He will also immerse himself in the culture during a brief stay with a Korean family.

“I’m looking forward to visiting the DMZ and seeing firsthand one of the most heavily fortified and tense locations in the entire world,” said Tisdale. “I also look forward to soaking up the sights in Seoul, where I’ll be spending most of my time. I’m excited to visit the Gyeongbokgung Palace, Seoul’s main palace, and hope to enjoy a lot of kimchi.”
