New College of Florida Juried Student Art Exhibition Opens at Isermann Gallery
More than three dozen works from New College’s arts program will be on display in the sixth annual New College of Florida Juried Student Art Exhibition, which runs from Jan. 28 through March 14.
This year’s juror, Ann Albritton, art historian and professor of art at Ringling College of Art and Design, will award prizes and speak at the opening reception, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6.
The exhibition and reception are in the Isermann Gallery, in the College’s Caples Fine Arts Complex at 5313 Bayshore Road, Sarasota, behind Sainer Pvailion and just south of the Ringling Museum. The exhibition is open to the public and can be viewed from noon to 5 p.m. daily.
The event is sponsored by a generous donation from Art & Frame of Sarasota.
The exhibition features a wide selection of student artwork celebrating the scope and talent of students’ most recent creative pursuits, including several installations, various sculptures (in metal and found objects), large graphite and pastel drawings, oil and acrylic paintings as well as fabric sown pieces.
New College students have gone on to study at some of the most prestigious national and international graduate programs for the arts, including California College of the Arts, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Virginia Commonwealth University, Temple Tyler School of the Arts, Goldsmiths at University of London and others.
