New College community members, including professors and students, share insights from Ukrainians on the ground and discuss Putin’s motives for invading the country.

As the world watches the war in Ukraine, New College of Florida hosted a community conversation about how the crisis began, what’s likely to come, and what it means for people around the world.

Held at New College’s Sudakoff Center, New College community members—including professors Tetyana Dzyadevych, Barbara Hicks, Alina Wyman and student Jacob Silverman—will be sharing insights from Ukrainians on the ground as well as discussing Russian president Vladimir V. Putin’s motives, with an with an emphasis on how his unprovoked invasion of Ukraine is something qualitatively and quantitatively different from the past. There was be time for questions and answers throughout the event.
