Campus Conversations: With Prof. Diego Villada

Reserve your spot on Eventbrite! Diego Villada is an Assistant Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies in the Humanities Division at New College of Florida. Previously, he was a K. Leroy Irvis Fellow in Theatre Arts at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a theatre artist and scholar that resides in Sarasota, FL, by way of Pittsburgh, PA and NYC. His production work centers on movement for the stage and academic research focuses on Latin-American performance. Aside from being a theatre director, Diego is also an accomplished fight choreographer. He has taught, performed, directed and/or choreographed on the east coast and abroad with NYC companies such as: Hostos Repertory Theatre, Nuyorican Poets Cafe, 3-Legged Dog Media & Theatre Group, Gallery Players, Chautauqua Theater Company, New Prospectives Theatre Company, as well as The Barksdale Theater (Richmond, VA) & The Conciliation Project (Richmond, VA) amongst others. Diego recently completed his doctorate in Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. He holds an Honors BS from the University of Evansville in both Psychology and Theatre Performance as well as an MFA in Theatre Pedagogy –Acting with emphasis on Movement and Voice– from Virginia Commonwealth University.
