Dolphins, Shakespeare, Athletes, Medieval Italy and More: New College Faculty Invite Community to Presentation of Research

New College of Florida professors will share their research on dolphins, technology diffusion, female athletes, performing Shakespeare, genetics and disease and much more in an open, public conference from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21 at the College’s Sudakoff  Conference Center.

The second annual Academic, Research & Creative Conference features presentations from 16 faculty members in multiple academic fields, from bioinformatics, library science and economics to medieval history, religion, literature and sociology. There also will be displays of research from another seven professors.

“This is a celebration of the intellectual depth and commitment of our faculty, and a reminder of why New College of Florida is such an extraordinary institution,” said Stephen Miles, provost and vice president for academic affairs.

A new feature is “NCF360,” which allows three professors to bring their perspectives on an issue in one 60-minute session. Associate professors Erin Dean (anthropology), Sarah Hernandez (sociology) and Tarron Khemraj (economics) will address the topic of international development. Associate Prof. Frank Alcock (political science) will serve as moderator.

The conference is free and open to the public. Lunch is available for sale in the nearby Hamilton Student Center. The Sudakoff Conference Center is on New College’s Pei Campus, east of Tamiami Trail.
